“Pocket Full of Rain & Other Stories” by Jason
Finished a minute ago. I spoke too soon about aggressive praise or whatever it was that I anticipated. Definitely not as good as “What I Did” but leaves you feeling just as gray. There were a couple good stories at the beginning, and good, sad, self-referencing, but the last 15 or 20 pages (maybe more?) is a series of jabs at randomness and irony that don’t quite pull through the way other random/ironic Jason shorts have for me. I did like “Kill the Cat” though. It’s all dated in the 90s, and he still uses human characters in it, so I think this was just a little before he’d fully honed his skill. The art is awesome though. I’m glad I read it, and still have high hopes for his other books.
Sorry this screen shot sucks, it’s really hard to get good ones in fullscreen mode (and otherwise they’re too little).
